Important News - Pokemon Go

pokemon-go-a-parents-guide

Pokémon Go is a game where you collect and trade cute creatures called Pokémon (Pocket Monsters).

It's one of the first popular games to use "augmented reality" - a kind of cross between real life and an online world. The game makes it look like Pokémon appear in real life places by using the GPS and camera on your phone.

It's already become a craze in Australia and America, and has made it's way into the news across the world.

The NSPCC has created a guide for parents. Please follow the link to access their advice.

West Yorkshire Police Advice

West Yorskhire Police advice to players would be:

·Be cautious to alerting strangers to where you will be in the future

· Be careful where you leave ‘beacons’

· Parents should supervise children when using the app

· Always pay attention to your surroundings, especially in built up areas

· Where possible play with friends and stay in a group

· Avoid playing near roads and water

· Play at home -  you can use lures to attract Pokémon to you

· Keep your device safe and out of sight – your phone will vibrate when a Pokémon is near

A message from the Head Teacher

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to our website - If you are an existing parent we hope you find the information within the site interesting and helpful. If you are a parent looking to choose a school for your child/children then I trust this site will give you a flavour of our friendly and exciting school.

The motto of Nields J. I. & N. School is "Reach for the Stars and Fly to the Moon". We aim for every child to do exactly this. To develop a love of learning, be good social communicators and to achieve their very best.

We aim to make the curriculum real, relevant and exciting while ensuring your children feel safe, secure, supported and valued.

Parents play a crucial part in their child's learning journey. Parents are welcome in school to support learning and to meet with class teachers. We have an "open door" policy.

We offer a wide range of extra curricular activity including sports activities, art club, choir and gardening club. If you are looking for a school in the Colne Valley, please feel free to contact us for a look round.
